Ep. 4 The Jordan Diaries: Leveling Up & Girl Math

Over the last 2 weeks, I have signed on property in Costa Rica, opened a second LLC, booked 2 international flights, & cut my hair.

It's been a big 2 weeks.

& it started with buying property.

Honestly? After signing on property, I was TRIGGERED AF! I have been playing around with this idea for over 2 years, & it still freaked me out. Driving to the lawyer's office alone, being the only woman in the office (Although, badass). Honestly, I kind of "hermitted" for a week or so after this happened. I felt EXHAUSTED. Emotionally, mentally. I also had gotten in a fight with a friend over buying the wrong flip flops that same day which resulted in a "You can buy property but not flip flops?" text which, hate to admit, spiraled me even though I know it was ridiculous. Besides the point.

I knew I was capable of buying property, I knew how hard I had worked to get there, but still - it triggered this lack of self-worth, imposter syndrome I thought I had beaten years ago. Suddenly, I didn't want to talk about it or celebrate it. And I, frankly, shunned it for a while. I get really caught up in acting out of ego and flaunting my sh*t on social media. I don't want to be that girl. But at the same time, if you only knew how my anxiety & insecurities try to convince me I don't deserve these things to begin with, despite my hard work, you'd realize that when I talk about these things in a blog like this, or on my social media - it's celebrating that little, insecure piece of me that's telling me this is all an illusion and I couldn't attain these big milestones alone. Not me, right?

Anyways, after spiraling for a week or so, the next big step was cutting my hair. & this is where the girl math comes in.

I had been playing around with the idea of cutting my hair for a few weeks. Living in the humid jungle, I LOVE my long hair, but it is not feasible down here. People do it, sure, but I don't know how. My hair is constantly getting tangled or stuck on my skin or choking me out surfing. I was done. So, I chopped 10 inches off myself. Yolo. (I love yolo & say is non-ironically, judge me). & the truth is that I felt empowered again. That lack of self-esteem and imposter syndrome that was triggered? Where'd it go, cuz I truly don't know.

After cutting my hair, I was opening the new LLC for my marketing freelance work I'm going deeper into (stay tuned for a bigger announcement! Woot woot!), putting a deposit down for an old shipping container, contacting backhoes to dig a road in my new property, getting my to do list done... All the things!!

So, moral of the story... girl math!

Feeling incapable of something? Cut your hair! Rearrange your home furniture! Get a new piercing! Run 4 miles! Take a cute selfie!

I don't know how to explain it, & maybe it's also my neurodivergent brain, but something about accomplishing a smaller, empowering task on my own rewired my brain to feel like I can accomplish anything on my own. & you know what? I can. & so can you. <3

Love,

Jordan

Love you, mean it!
